Paul Edwards, Plectix BioSystems Inc.
Paul Edwards is President and CEO of Plectix BioSystems and has been with the company since early 2007. Mr Edwards has
a degree in Mathematics from Imperial College, London and an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau. During the 90’s he held a
progression of international leadership roles within the commercial, business development and strategy domains of “Big
Pharma”. Since 2000 he has been leading innovative business ventures at the intersection of the quantitative and life sciences as the founding CEO of Icosystem and Coalesix and as an advisor to therapeutic and technology companies.
Walter Fontana, Harvard Medical School.
Walter Fontana, a Professor of Systems Biology at Harvard since 2004, was an original founder of Plectix BioSystems. Dr
Fontana has a distinguished academic record and held positions at the University of Vienna, Los Alamos National Laboratory, the Institute for Advanced Study (Princeton), and the Santa Fe Institute. He is a visionary thinker and pioneer in the application of new computational formalisms to systems biology. He is widely published, and serves on several editorial and scientific boards.
Steve Dow, General Partner, Sevin Rosen Funds.
Steve Dow, a general partner at Sevin Rosen Funds since 1983, has been an advisor to entrepreneurs building companies in a
wide variety of markets and technologies. In addition to board appointments at Plectix and private companies Alder
Pharmaceuticals, Kabira, Limerick BioPharma and RNT, Mr. Dow serves on the boards of two public companies,
Citrix (CTXS) and Cytokinetics (CYTK). In both of these public companies, he helped incubate them and had been involved in
the early formation of their initial business plans.
Rick LeFaivre, OVP Venture Partners.
Rick LeFaivre has been a Venture Partner at OVP since 2004 and is focused on technology-based investments in information
technology and digital biology. Dr LeFaivre accumulated his extensive technology experience during 30 years of
leadership roles at companies including Apple, Borland, Silicon Graphics, Sun Microsystems and Tektronix and as a faculty member at Rutgers University. He
currently serves as a member or observer of the boards of Adapx, Applied Identity, Gainspan, GenoLogics Life Sciences, M2E Power and Vantos.
Charles Waite, OVP Venture Partners.
Chad Waite is a Managing Director at OVP Venture Partners with more than 25 years of experience in both the management
and investment sides of emerging growth companies. Mr Waite focuses on investments in the digital biology and network
security sectors and currently serves on the board of directors of Accelerator, CODA Genomics, Complete Genomics,
GenoLogics and NanoString. Some of his other investments include Rosetta Inpharmatics, Seattle Genetics, Verity and WatchGuard.
